Toronto native, Drake, made a surprise appearance alongside city councillor and Twitter personality, Norm Kelly, at Ryerson University’s Week of Welcome closing parade and concert Friday night.
The event, hosted on Gould Street by the Ryerson Students’ Union and the Student Association of George Brown, also featured performances by Canadian rapper, P Reign, Toronto DJs, Zeds Dead, and headlining rapper Future. R&B singer Miguel, was also set to appear, but cancelled at the last-minute.
Drake stepped onto the stage about halfway through Future’s set to perform their recently released song, “Where Ya At,” off of Future’s album Dirty Sprite 2, followed by renditions of his latest hits, “Know Yourself,” “Back to Back,” and “Energy.”
Kelly came out soon after in an oversized Ryerson Rams jersey, the crowd erupting when he grabbed the microphone and yelled, “Y’all turn up!”
It was a night Ryerson students won’t forget. Gould Street will never be the same.
