Fall Street Style: October’s outfits of the day

‘Tis that time of year again, when leaves start changing colours and falling from the trees and, most importantly, when our beloved pumpkin spice lattes are back in season.  They’re two signifiers of fall we all cherish and love, but what better way to really kick off the new season than with a beautiful vintage fisherman’s knit, or your favourite pair of knee-high boots? Whether you’re pulling out an old letterman jacket or a comfy cashmere V-neck, as the seasons change, so do trends and styles. This season is all about the 90’s vibes, athletic wear, oversized pieces, delicate accessories and, best of all, being totally authentic and true to yourself.

What better way to document these trends and attitudes than with some good ol’ Gould Street style looks? We walked around Ryerson and asked a few individuals to share a little about themselves and their personal style preferences.

Name: Chidinma

OOTD: Cropped, green bomber jacket and cuffed skinny jeans with black ankle boots, plus silver and gold accessories

And also: Chidinma is on the African Student Association’s executive team where she acts as one of the volunteer directors planning and promoting events. She also loves Afro-modern dance, ballet, jazz, and kayaking.

Name: Funké Joseph

OOTD: Colourful sweater with classic cords, a white canvas bag, and very well-maintained New Balance sneakers

And also: Funké studies journalism, reviews video games, named his cats Joemama and Gogeta after Dragon Ball Z characters and taught them how to play fetch.

Name: Clair (left)

OOTD: Silk neck tie scarf and relaxed-style straight leg jeans

And also: Clair studies graphic communications management and hates sneaker wedges. Blue Jays hats aren’t really her cup of tea either; however, she loves bald cats.

Name: Lhawang (right)

OOTD: Blunt bob, classic white button up, chunky black ankle boots and a black sleeveless crop top

And also: Lhawang’s least favourite trends are half up top buns, cut out jeans, and sneaker wedges. She also dislikes spoons and prefers to use other styles of cutlery.

Name: Greg

OOTD: Funky fresh leather jacket

And also: Greg, an architecture student, plays basketball and volleyball. His wide preference of jams include rap, classical, jazz, indie and house music, especially Matt Corby, Frank Sinatra and The Neighbourhood.

Name: Mackenzie (left)

OOTD: Grey wool cardigan with black ankle boots

And also: Mackenzie owns about 30 pairs of shoes (mostly Steve Madden), went to France once for a program in high school, and would love to be a fashion buyer (but is conflicted with her love for graphic design).

Name: Krizia (right)

OOTD: White tee underneath a silk and lace black dress

And also: Krizia lived in Italy for 5 years, where she completed a marketing and branding course in Milan. She dreams of one day being an art director for a major publication and is currently interning for a stylist.

Name: Sreylis

OOTD: headphones, Black Market jeans, and of course her sewing project

And also: Sreylis, a fashion design student, wants to start her own menswear line and loves Alexander Wang’s concept of style as well as his unisex looks. She is also a huge K pop fan (especially Dean), and really wishes guys would stop dressing like Drake.
