Through the eyes of a first-year: Ankit Singh

This is the first in Folio’s three-part series, Through the Eyes of a First Year, where we ask first-year students to photograph the beginning of their time at Ryerson.

Do you remember the first time you stepped on campus? There’s no universal university experience. We all have unique perspectives. What can be an anxiety-inducing experience for some, can be exhilarating for others. These first-year students show you their first impressions of Ryerson.

“I just started my first year in Image Arts Photography after taking an extra year in high school to figure things out and get extra credits. I’ve been a part of the yearbook crew at my high school for two years, playing the role as photo editor for my Grade 12 year, and yearbook editor in my victory lap. When I create images, I look for expression. Expression in shapes and lines, or in the body. By capturing expression I hope to create stories, and if powerful enough, evoke emotion through my images.”
